There are numerous wineries in the area, the closest a 10 minute drive from the lodge or travel further afield to Tarras/Cromwell/Bannockburn just 20-45 minutes drive where you will find yourself in the heart of world-class Central Otago vineyards.

Fishing
Brown trout, rainbow trout and salmon can all be found in the local waters. Try shoreline fishing or improve the odds of a good catch by taking a boat to the best spots. The Clutha River, famous for it’s trout and fly fishing, is only a few hundred metres up the road from Wanaka Alpine Lodge.
Boating
You can ride a jet boat to see Mt Aspiring and her glaciers or take a lake cruise to the Mou Waho Island Nature reserve in the middle of Lake Wanaka, a fantastic way to discover the area’s flora and bird life.
Golf
The Wanaka golf course, one of the most scenic 9 holes on the (18 hole course) in the South Island is only a few minutes drive away.
